THE LOCATION
The Disability Resource Centre is located on Poynters Road, just outside Dunstable Town Centre. Dunstable is a 90 minute drive from the centre of London. Alternatively, there is a train available from London to Luton which takes 30 minutes, and Dunstable is located just 5 miles from Luton. It is an ideal option for attendees looking for a more cost friendly Course option outside of the often expensive central London prices. The venue itself is less than a 10 minute drive to Dunstable town centre where there are many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. If you fancy a stroll on your lunch break there is a Shell Garage a 6 minute walk away for anything you may need. The Beefeater Halfway Housee is a 22 minute walk away and Costa Coffee is a 24 minute walk away for any food or drinks before or after the course.

WHY CHOOSE DUNSTABLE FOR YOUR MOVING & HANDLING OF PEOPLE INSTRUCTOR COURSE
Dunstable is a market town located in Bedfordshire. If you are driving, there are many places to explore in Bedfordshire. Cafes, restaurants and shops are plentiful inside its market towns with many independent coffee shops to put your feet up after a day of training. Alongside the wide range of villages and towns across Bedfordshire, you can also grab a coffee at other key attractions including Woburn Safari Park, and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

There are many unique places of interest near the Course venue including Dunstable Downs, situated at the highest point in Bedfordshire, where you can go for a picturesque country walk and absorb the breathtaking views from a height. While on the subject of nature, The Secret Sanctuary contains beautifully landscaped gardens which are a safe haven for many exotic creatures for visitors to view. Alternatively, if the weather isn't great, the Grove Theatre in Dunstable displays a variety of comedy, dance and drama shows as well as regular films. Indoor shopping options are also listed below.
WHERE TO STAY

SHOPPING
There are many high street shops, bars and restaurants in Dunstable town centre. The Quadrant Shopping Centre is located directly in the town centre containing some familiar shops for you to explore. Alternatively, if you would like a wider range of shops, the Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre (pictured on the left) is located a 55 minute drive down the M1 from the Disability Resource Centre Course venue. If you're making a few days of your trip, trains depart regularly from Luton (just 5 miles away) into the centre of London where you can find the best selection of shops in the country.
WINING & DINING IN DUNSTABLE
Restaurants are wide ranging and exciting in Bedfordshire from 5* hotels with intimate and historic places to eat, to the local asian cuisine available in Luton and Bedford. Dunstable itself has a wide variety of nice restaurants to choose from with recommended places including Ivory Lounge and Chez Jerome. If you are looking for a nice bar to wind down after training, there are many available in Dunstable town centre including The Gary Cooper, The Nags Head and The White Lyon. Cafes are also plentiful in Bedfordshire with many market towns having quirky and independent coffee shops. Your Instructor on the Moving & Handling of People Instructor Programme will be Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan is our Bedford based Moving & Handling of People Instructor and is there to assist you over the course period.

THE TRAINING VENUE
Onsite, there is plenty of room in our training room for both the theory part of the course and the practical sessions which form most of the course. Attendees will be out of their chairs learning practical techniques and transfers rather than being talked at. For your well deserved breaks there are plentiful hot drinks and chilled water provided throughout the day.
The Disability Resource Centre has a large range of moving & handling equipment and handling aids to practise with such as a mobile hoist, a profiling bed, a standing hoist, wheelchairs, a banana board, a leg lifter, a bed lever, a bed ladder, a range of slings and slide sheets etc.

Having a large range of quality equipment to hand helps you practise for delivering training with all types of common moving & handling equipment that you will come across in practice. Sometimes attendees aren’t aware of certain equipment and handling aids, and exposure to it on our Course enables them to suggest equipment and handling aid strategies to make improvements to moving & handling in the workplace.
